Dr. April Pickett

As a board member, I am deeply committed to advancing literacy and supporting young people because I believe that reading is not only a fundamental skill but a powerful tool for opportunity and empowerment. As a child, I enjoyed experiencing the world through books which broadened my ability to dream and expand my possibilities.  Literacy opens doors to imagination, education, and personal growth—it shapes futures and strengthens communities. Helping young people access these opportunities is both a privilege and a responsibility, and I am passionate about ensuring that all children have the chance to thrive through the transformative power of literacy.
